Sam Burgess faces fine over NRL ‘kangaroo court’ comments

England ahead Sam Burgess faces a potential fine after explaining the National Rugby League (NRL) judiciary process as a"kangaroo court". The South Sydney captain made the remarks after getting a one-match prohibit for withdrawing Sydney Roosters centre Billy Smith's hair September 5. Burgess pleaded guilty to the conduct charge which ruled him out of a 30-6 loss to the Roosters on September 13. "Who is making the calls here?" Burgess explained. "Is there a discussion before these calls go out there?

I don't know. What is the process? It's like a kangaroo court there." Burgess triggered a response . The team's chief executive Todd Greenberg explained:"On face value, Sam's remarks concerning the judiciary breach that our code of behavior and therefore so are offensive to both the chairman and members of this board that execute their responsibilities impartially, without fear or favour. "We take a pragmatic perspective about most of the discussion that happens around the match. "But , the NRLjudiciary is a longstanding and individual process dependent on the principles of natural justice in our court system. "Our seat is an esteemed judge of the maximum calibre and our board members are former high-profile players that are independent from clubs. The integrity of this machine and the people in it shouldn't ever be contested." After agreeing to match the Rugby League Players Association and Greenberg burgess is predicted to clarify his remarks next week. Read more here: http://zurichexpats.com/?p=15320
