Ezekiel Elliott issues apology after Goodell meeting

Ezekiel Elliott and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at New York on Tuesday met to discuss in Las Vegas involving the Dallas Cowboys running back.

Elliott issued an apology after the meeting's conclusion for his off-field conduct via Twitter. "I have worked hard to make better choices and to live up to the high standards which are expected of me," Elliott wrote. "I failed to do here and I made a poor choice." LATEST ANALYSIS ??? Team matches for top remaining FAs ??? Ranking deepest position groups ??? NFL triplets positions: Who is No. 1? ??? NFC West primer: Camp queries ??? Rank: Could Redskins surprise? An episode in which the running back had a confrontation with a security guard preceded the meeting between Goodell and Elliott. After the

guard dropped after being nudged by the running back, elliott was detained but never detained. Elliott is subject to suspension or a fine under the league's personal conduct policy despite never being charged with a crime. In accordance with NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, resources have suggested that they don't expect Elliott to be suspended. The NFL has not yet issued a statement on Tuesday's meeting. Joining Elliott at New York for the meeting were members of Cowboys counsel, sources told Garafolo. This isn't the first time Elliott and Goodell have met to discuss the Cowboys running back's off-field behaviour. For breaking up the conduct policy elliott was suspended six games in 2017. The suspension came after a yearlong league investigation into domestic violence accusations made despite the backnever being charged by police against Elliott. While it does not seem a suspension will stem out of this altercation, the assembly of Tuesday reads like a warning against the NFL into Elliott to wash up his off-field behaviour. The 23-year-old All-Pro says he discovered that message loud and clear. "I want to work harder to ensure I don't place myself in endangered situations in the future," Elliott wrote Tuesday. "I am rededicating myself to use all of the resources that the team has made accessible. "However, in the long run, it is up to me and I'm determined not to be in this position again."
