Diamondbacks vs. Brewers MLB Pick – August 24th
The Arizona Diamondbacks came with no interest in playing to Milwaukee last night. The Brewers held on for an easy 6-1 victory and acquired out early into a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. Merrill Kelly had an off night for the Diamondbacks. Kelly finally completed with 8 hits and 6 earned runs allowed in 4.1 innings. This was all of the runs for the Brewers, as the Diamondbacks' bullpen pitched after Kelly's wreck and settled in.
The Diamondbacks weren't coming back using their crime playing like that, though. Jordan Lyles no-hit that the Diamondbacks in 6 innings, but the Brewers failed to get the combined no-hitter. Devin Williams and Jeremy Jeffress each surrendered a bang. With a margin of 13 to two, the Brewers outhit the Diamondbacks From the close of the competition. The Diamondbacks has to be better than this to find a win in Milwaukee this weekend.
If they wish to be playing baseball in October, they're going to have to be way better compared to that attempt. Now, there's faint hope that the Diamondbacks will soon likely be going into the postseason. They are not dead yet, but their chances are slim. Card Game race. The Brewers are nearer, but still 3 matches back to get a wildcard and also 3.5 rear of the Cardinals in the NL Central.
The Brewers are going to have to get hot soon. They must cope with, it is not an easy road, although that does not seem like a great deal of matches. Lyles did all he would last to provide some hope to the Brewers. Now Chase Anderson will look to duplicate that performance Saturday against rookie Zac Gallen. The way I'm not so certain that the Marlins are thrilled about investing him away. It was a prospect for potential bargain and the Diamondbacks are seeing instant results from this prospect. Gallen was strong with the Marlins, posting a 2.72 ERA and seven begins. The commerce has not seemed to bother him one bit, as he's improved since departing Miami. It has just been three starts because a Diamondback and Gallen was successful with a 1.80 ERA in 15 innings.
Having said that, Gallen's resume has never been clean in his last two starts. Yes, he let just 3 earned runs. But a closer look suggests that he had towork really hard out of jams to ensure potential. In 4 innings, Gallen allowed 9 hits and a walk against the Rockies. He had been lucky to get out of Coors Field with just two earned runs allowed.
The identical thing happened in his second excursion. He gave up in 6 innings, but got into trouble. Gallen yielded 5 hits and 6 walks, even as his controller was a bit all over the place. That may catch up to some young pitcher .
Gallen's competition tonight is coming off his most ugly excursion of the year. Chase Anderson never had it against the Nationals, since he was rocked for 9 hits and 10 earned runs in Washington. Leading up to that match, Anderson was pitching fairly nicely, with ten consecutive games without allowing more than 3 runs in a match.
He allowed two or less . Anderson has been quite good from the Diamondbacks from the past, since they are hitting only .214 with 1 home run. Anticipate Chase to earn a dip back functionality against the Diamondbacks in this one. Gallen has been hanging on by a thread the last two games. Search for the Brewers Saturday to get to him.
